Program Description

Let's GO WILD and get back to nature in Harold Parker Forest! Each day our crew will hike a new trail covering about 1.5 - 2 miles. We will spend lots of time exploring the ponds, forest forts, glacial erratics, wetlands and dams of this areas, learning a bit about the history of the land and keeping our eyes peeled for forest wildlife: frogs, snakes, salamanders, oh my! Day 1: Forts and Boulders Explore one side of Bracket Pond that has forts, boulders, and wetlands. We will be climbing, we will be building, we will be by water! Day 2: Boats Explore the other side of Brackett Pond with a dam and refreshing little stream that empties into the pond. We will race boats down stream and also try racing other nature objects - sticks, bark, etc. Day 3: Game Day Explore a fun wooded trail just off of Field Pond. Possible games include: Tug-o-War, Nature Obstacle Course, Forest Hide and Seek Nature crafts and rest/snack time will be a part of each outing :) Rain Dates will be held on 8/25 or 8/26. When deciding if this program is right for your child, please consider: *this is an ACTIVE program *ability to walk 2 miles in hot weather is necessary *kids are outside for 3 hours in summer weather *ability to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS / BEHAVE cooperatively / execute SELF CONTROL are necessary for group safety *Please read the CODE OF CONDUCT EXPECTATIONS on the Policy Page before registering
